Manama, Oct. 29 (BNA)—Human Rights and Social Development Minister and Acting Health Minister Dr. Fatima Al Blushi received recently Human Rights Without Frontiers International (HRWF) Director Willy Foutre. She expressed delight at his visit to Bahrain to get personally informed about the kingdom's ongoing efforts to further boost human rights and promote social and economic development.
She said that freedom of expression is guaranteed by the Bahraini constitution pointing out the kingdom's full commitment to protecting human rights and respecting the seven international agreements it has signed.
"The wise leadership is continuously assessing the human rights scene from a purely humanitarian perspective and not from narrow political ones that depend on divisive visions of the social components," she said.
Dr. Al Blushi reviewed the efforts exerted by official authorities to contain any repercussions of the regrettable incidents citing launching the National Consensus Dialogue for all political, economic, social and religious spectra, the formation of Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) and the issuance of a royal decree to set up the National Victims' Compensation Fund affiliated with the Human Rights and Social Development Ministry.
"The fund is considered one of the humanitarian initiatives to promote values of tolerance and brotherhood among all Bahraini people. It aims to compensate eligible victims for the harm caused to them by the unfortunate events which happened last February and March or similar incidents of the same nature which happened after that date," she said.
