Bahrain and Ireland Discuss Cooperation

Manama-March22-(BNA) Human Rights and Social Development Ministry Undersecretary Said Mohammed Al-Faihani today received former Irish Foreign Minister David Andrews. He stressed strong bilateral cooperation, outlining Bahrain's human rights strides in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa.
Mr. Al-Faihani stressed the ministry's resolve to promote the concepts of human rights.

He outlined efforts to enhance social awareness through cultural programmes, benefitting from the new media means.

He cited in particular the "One Unity" campaign aimed at cementing national unity.

In this same regard, he reaffirmed Bahrain's resolve to meet its obligations and commit to the recommendations cited in the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) Report.

The two sides discussed cooperation in promoting human rights to benefit from the Irish experience in bolstering national unity and running the compensation fund.

The Irish minister hailed Bahrain's resolve to turn the page of the regrettable events, describing the establishment of the inquiry commission as a bold royal initiative.
