Ivory Coast hotel shooting: Recap after six gunmen kill 16 people at beach resort


At least 16 people have been killed, including four Europeans, as as a result of the assault on a hotel in the coastal city Grand-Bassam, it is reported

David Cameron has tweeted his condolences after the deadly attack in Ivory Coast and another terrorist attack hours later in Ankara.
The Prime Minister tweeted: “I’m appalled by the devastating terror attacks in Ankara and the Ivory Coast. My thoughts are with all those affected.”
Officials said a car bombing in Turkey’s capital killed at least 27 people and wounded around 75 others.
Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb has said its terror group is behind the deadly attacks in Ivory Coast today.
The North African branch of the terrorist organisation posted a statement online on Sunday night claiming it was responsible.
“In a message posted on its Telegram channels on March 13, 2016, the group reported that three `heroes’ from its group were able to storm the resort,” according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors online communications by militant groups.
The current death toll stands at 22 people - 14 civilians, two soldiers and six terrorists.
